domestic abuse

Partner Michelle Uppal comments on child arrangements for individuals accused of domestic abuse charges, after the High Court allowed a mother’s appeal against an increase in contact.

Michelle’s comments were published in Today’s Family Lawyer, 4 April 2024, and can be found here.

“The court have now righted their wrong. Victims of domestic abuse must be heard and have their allegations trialled before determining any increase in the time their children spend with those potentially facing serious criminal charges.

“This gives the right message to those victims who should not be punished for trying to protect their children from their abuser.”
