Following the Spring statement, our Founder Katie McCann has been widely featured in the national and regional media, explaining that welfare cuts and tax hikes are “ill-thought-out” and potentially devastating for vulnerable people.
The only lawyer quoted in Yahoo News, Prolific North, and Birmingham Live, Katie champions Labour’s commitment to work and opportunity, but warns of the dangers of cutbacks.
A proud advocate and self-described born and bred working-class girl, Katie says:
“I fear that the welfare cuts proposed will ‘save’ money on one side, but cause catastrophic loss of income to some of the poorest and vulnerable in society when the safety net of abundant employment in a growing economy is not there to catch them.”
